Guides - Path Finders - Mavens - Mentors

Guides point the way. They may not know where the entire trail will lead, but they know how to get you to your next step, and often go along the way for awhile.
Path Finders are those who have already taken a path to where you're heading. Their trail worked for them and it may work for you, but you may not be able to travel it the way they did, so beware.
Mavens have their fingers on the pulse of the community and can tell you what the consensus is regarding what appears to be the best of this or that at the moment.
Mentors know what you need to become a master and can help you take the next steps in your development.

As you can see, these are all inter-related, but have slightly different viewpoints.  Guides and Path Finders, for example, seem almost the same, except a Guide operates from general knowledge of the way while Path Finders relate another's learning to their own personal journey.  Mentors are similar to Guides and Path Finders but their focus is on helping another mine their own depths to truly master their own abilities to reach their fullest achievement. Mavens are like Guides in that their knowledge comes from broader human experience, but they try to see emerging trends and help others get there before others do.
